Our History
Founded in 1999

When it all started...
KLTA was founded out of a shared desire to support Korean language teachers and strengthen Korean language education across the United States. As the number of Korean language programs continued to grow in public and private schools, teachers recognized the need for a professional community where they could connect with one another, share experiences, and find support for the unique challenges they face in their classrooms.
With this vision, KLTA was established as a community by Korean language teachers, for Korean language teachers. The organization brings together educators from elementary, middle, and high schools across the country to create opportunities for collaboration, professional development, resource sharing, and mutual support.
From its beginning, KLTA has been committed to listening to and representing the voices of Korean language educators. Through building connections among teachers and sharing knowledge and best practices, KLTA aims to help educators succeed while promoting the continued growth and development of Korean language programs throughout the United States.
Today, KLTA continues to grow as a professional community dedicated to supporting Korean language teachers and expanding opportunities for Korean language education for students across the country.
