Mission Statement
Promoting Excellence in Korean Language and Cultural Understanding
The Korean Honor Society (KHS) is dedicated to encouraging students to explore and study the Korean language while recognizing academic excellence. The organization also seeks to deepen students’ knowledge and appreciation of Korean language, culture, and civilization. KHS is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Korean (AATK) and the K-12 Korean Language Teachers Association in the USA (KLTA-USA).
KHS Chapter Eligibility
All accredited high schools in North America offering Korean language courses are eligible to establish a Korean Honor Society Chapter.
KHS at Your School
Faculty sponsors must first become a member of the AATK and the KLTA-USA; the KHS is co-sponsored by both organizations. After that, they must apply to establish a KHS chapter at their respective schools.

KHS Membership Guidelines
Students who satisfy the following criteria may be nominated for KHS membership
Course Completion
Students have successfully completed three semesters of Korean language instruction at their school.
Chapter-Specific Elilgibility
Individual chapters may establish additional requirements for eligibility.
Korean Language Requirement
Students must maintain an average of 3.5 out of 4.0 (A- or 90%) or higher in all Korean language courses, including the semester they are selected.
Overall GPA Requirement
Students must maintain a general scholastic GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (B- or 80%) or higher across all secondary school credits, including the semester they are selected.

Review and revise the previously submitted application. Update the induction information annually.

Submit certificate/merchandise fees via PayPal.
Receive certificates for a new chapter and student induction materials via mail.
